Happy New Year!

Well, the new year brought us snow and very cold weather. Thankfully that meant I got an extra day off from work. I have spent the whole day spinning. Our holidays were packed full. We had a great Christmas and are really blessed. Tom and I were able to spend time with our boys. We took a trip to get three new Shetlands near Nashville. We left early last Thursday and returned on the same day. We ended up buying 2 lambs and a yearling. They are the sweetest things. On the way out , we passed the neighbors farm. Beside of the driveway, was a pen of turkeys. Of course we had to stop and ask if they were for sale. Sure enough, we brought home a pair turkeys too.

All of the sheep have been put in a small pen together. Our older ewes were really shy to begin with and for some reason Licorice has turned really wild on us. She will run and stamp her feet. This really puzzles me. She was so tame when we got her. Nothing has changed, other than putting her in with the other ewes. I am hoping that putting all the sheep into the smaller pen will get them used to us. I plan to go in everyday and hand feed them. I still have two of the older girls that won't come to me. I think I may need to have intensive intervention with Licorice. I will start halter training her soon.

We hope everyone had a merry Christmas and a very good new year.
